Up till 2020 most of my work was made using ceramics, glass and bronze. I love working with these materials but they are very energy hungry art forms and after an exhibition about global warming, I started looking for greener, more sustainable art practices. To this end I started experimenting with felting, tapestry and mixed media using recycled materials.
Just before the pandemic I also started working with raw wool gifted to me by a farmer, learning to wash, card, dye and spin it.
3D art is very much where my passion lies, and wool seemed the most promising of these new avenues for making. I also like making larger wall pieces, and textile work are much easier to transport and hang than my previous work in Clay, glass and particularly bronze.
One of my early pieces depicting a corona virus was acquired by the National Museum Of Ireland for their Covid Collection.
